While we all continue to shelter in place, we recognize that the world has adopted a very different rhythm. For many, the days meld together, with very little differentiating the typical weekday from the weekend. For those of us who are working from home, the old adage holds true that says, “You can’t beat the commute, but the hours stink,” because it’s difficult to shut down your home office and take some time well-deserved time to unwind.
Speaking of unwinding…in a previous post, we mentioned actor John Krasinski’s #SomeGoodNews movement on Instagram. Now a full-blown YouTube “network,” his first episode alone garnered over 17million views! With wide range of celebrity guests, John has held proms, graduations, potlucks, cooking segments and even a video message from the International Space Center. The most touching moments however, are when John highlights the real life people who are submitting stories, questions and comments to SGN. His “fan boy” behavior towards meeting these real life figures over zoom is so endearing. Whether it’s 2020 high school or college graduates, would be prom goers, or recent cancer survivors, his excitement in “meeting” these people is palpable, and that ever-present, self-deprecating John Krasinski signature humor never falters.
With so much bad news available to us, it really is life affirming and just plain fun to tune into Some Good News, and with episodes that range from just a few minutes, to 20 minutes, it’s a perfect respite in the midst of a hectic day. When you do tune in, be forewarned, you’ll want to bring a tissue! I’m not crying you’re crying!!!
